During a special flight organized on November 10, Pegasus Airlines CEO Güliz Öztürk met with members of the press and shared key updates about the airline’s growth and future goals.
Speaking about Pegasus’ strategic vision, Öztürk said:
“Out of our 156 destinations, 118 are international, that’s about 80%. This clearly shows that Pegasus is a global airline. We expect to surpass 40 million passengers in 2025, with a current load factor of 87.4%. Our revenue for the first nine months of the year reached around €6 billion.”
8 New Aircraft Coming in 2026
Commenting on the fleet expansion, Öztürk stated:
“We currently operate 127 aircraft and will close the year with this number. Last year, we added 16 new Airbus aircraft, and 9 more this year. In 2026, we’ll add 8 new Airbus aircraft, and by 2029, 43 new aircraft will join our fleet.”
Two New Hangars Under Construction
Öztürk also shared updates on maintenance investments:
“We are building two new hangars, with a total investment of $150 million. These facilities will reduce external dependence and bring major operational benefits. One hangar will be ready in February 2026, and the other by the end of 2026. They will help minimize aircraft ground time during maintenance or repairs.”
Focus on Female and Local Pilots
“Women make up 8% of our pilots. Gender shouldn’t matter when it comes to pilots, and we have a program called ‘Harmony’ to promote gender balance across the company. We aim to increase the number of female pilots,” Öztürk said.
She also emphasized that Pegasus trains its own pilots, adding:
“As our fleet grows, so does our crew demand, and naturally, the number of local pilots will also rise.”
Countdown to U.S. Flights
According to Onur Dedeköylü, Chief Commercial Officer, Pegasus is now in the final stages of regulatory approval for U.S. flights under its codeshare agreement with Iberia.
“We’re currently in the approval process for Mexico City, Colombia, JFK, and Miami routes. The process is progressing well, and we expect to complete the approvals and start flights within a few months,” Dedeköylü said.
(Under this agreement, Pegasus will operate flights to Madrid, while Iberia will continue onward to U.S. destinations.)
Öztürk also added that Pegasus plans to resume flights to Damascus as part of its Middle East expansion efforts.
