The Turkish Airline Pilots Association (TALPA) represented Türkiye at the IFALPA Women Pilot Working Group Meeting held in Tunis on May 28–29, organized by the International Federation of Airline Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA). The two-day event brought together 26 participants from 12 countries, all focused on enhancing the role and representation of women in aviation.

Key Discussion Topics

The meeting addressed a variety of important issues, including:

  • Representation of women pilots in the aviation sector

  • Strengthening communication and collaboration between pilot associations

  • The transition of the Women Pilot Working Group into an official IFALPA committee

  • Reintegration programs for women pilots returning to duty after maternity leave

TALPA’s Contribution

TALPA made a strong impression with its presentation on post-maternity return-to-flight programs, emphasizing the need for structured reintegration processes tailored to female pilots. The presentation focused on maintaining flight safety and operational continuity while also supporting pilots’ personal and professional transitions.

In addition, the meeting explored regulations related to menstruation, menopause, and fertility treatments, and their effects on female pilots. The group highlighted the necessity of raising awareness and developing constructive, inclusive policies across the aviation industry.

Commitment to Equality in Aviation

In a statement, TALPA said:

“We are proud to be part of this significant step toward equality, representation, and progress for women in aviation. We remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote gender equality in the industry.”

This participation underscores Türkiye’s growing involvement in global efforts to foster diversity and inclusion in aviation.
