A narrow-body aircraft belonging to Turkish Airlines has been stranded

The ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, which has intensified over the past three days, is affecting the entire region. Airlines are avoiding flights through this airspace. However, Turkish Airlines (THY) crews are currently in Baghdad, awaiting their flight time.

According to information obtained by Aviationext Editor-in-Chief Emre Nar, the crews are waiting at the airport for the airspace to reopen. The aircraft does not appear on the Flightradar system. The airport appears empty. Meanwhile, the crew is eagerly waiting to reunite with their families in Turkiye.

The estimated flight time given to the crew is 7:00 PM local time.

It remains unclear why Turkish Airlines’ operations team planned a flight route through this restricted airspace.
