Canadian airline Air Transat is resuming its operations to Türkiye, with flights to Istanbul Airport starting from December 6. The airline will operate two weekly flights connecting Toronto and Istanbul, with ticket sales already underway. Flights will run on Tuesdays and Saturdays in both directions.
As of 2024, Canadian citizens can travel to Türkiye without a visa, opening up new opportunities for tourism and business partnerships between the two countries.
Thanks to this new route, which is expected to contribute significantly to Turkish tourism, especially in Istanbul, a strong link will also be established for business travel between Türkiye and Canada.
More airlines are flying to IGA
According to the 2025 Airport Industry Connectivity Report by the Airports Council International (ACI) Europe, IGA Istanbul Airport, ranked as the Global Leader in Hub Connectivity and Europe’s Most Connected Airport in Direct Connectivity for two consecutive years, continues to expand its network with the addition of Air Transat.
Based in Canada, Air Transat operates a modern fleet of 44 aircraft, flying to 62 destinations across 29 countries, including Europe, the Caribbean, Central America, and the United States.
With its expanding destination network, Air Transat aims to strengthen intercontinental connectivity, and by adding Türkiye to its global network via IGA Istanbul Airport, the airline further reinforces Istanbul’s role as a world-class transfer hub.
