Abu Dhabi Airports and Skyports Infrastructure have announced a strategic partnership to develop Abu Dhabi’s first commercial vertiport network, marking a major step toward bringing Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) to the Emirate.
The announcement was made during DriftX Abu Dhabi, where both parties confirmed plans for an Emirate-wide rollout, beginning with two initial vertiports at Zayed International Airport (AUH) and Al Bateen Executive Airport (AZI). Construction for these sites is already underway and expected to be completed in Q1 2026. The long-term vision includes more than 10 vertiport locations across Abu Dhabi.
Under the agreement, Skyports will contribute its global expertise in vertiport design, engineering, and operations. Together with Abu Dhabi Airports, the companies will oversee construction, installation of critical systems, and future management of passenger, cargo, and eVTOL flight operations.
Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, stated:
“By establishing these initial vertiport locations, we are setting the foundations for an Emirate-wide AAM network. This initiative highlights Abu Dhabi’s commitment to innovation and positions the Emirate as a global leader in next-generation air transport.”
Duncan Walker, CEO of Skyports Infrastructure, added:
“This vertiport network forms a key pillar of Abu Dhabi’s AAM strategy. With our experience in similar projects globally, we’re excited to bring the benefits of AAM to the UAE’s largest Emirate and enable eVTOL flights in the near future.”
