Argentina’s F-16s soon to join the fleet

Argentine Defense Minister Luis Petri has traveled to Denmark to

Argentine Defense Minister Luis Petri has traveled to Denmark to review the preparations for the first six second-hand Lockheed Martin F-16 fighter jets the country purchased in 2024. Minister Petri inspected the F-16s at Denmark’s Aalborg logistics base, where the aircraft will be handed over to the Argentine Air Force (FAA). He also posed inside the cockpit of one of the jets.

The six aircraft, scheduled to be delivered to Argentina in December, will be deployed to the 6th Air Brigade in Tandil. This brigade will eventually operate up to 24 F-16 A/Bs sourced from Denmark.

Argentina’s 24 F-16s will come equipped with a weapons package purchased from the United States, including AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles, for an estimated cost of $350 million.

Commenting on social media, Petri said: “The aircraft you see here is one of the F-16s that will arrive in Argentina this December. Concrete actions protect and defend the Argentine people. This is how sovereignty is built.”
