Volocopter Plans Four eVTOL Models in Service by 2030

Volocopter is setting an ambitious target to have four electric

Volocopter is setting an ambitious target to have four electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft types in service by 2030, following its recent acquisition by Diamond Aircraft.

The German pioneer, which faced financial turbulence and entered self-administered insolvency in late 2024, was acquired in March by Diamond Aircraft, part of China’s Wanfeng Aviation Industry Group. The takeover has provided the resources and stability Volocopter needed to accelerate certification and production.

The company’s VoloCity, a two-seat urban air taxi, is expected to receive EASA type certification by late 2026, with entry into service planned for 2027. Meanwhile, the VoloXPro, a simplified and more affordable model targeted at private owners, is slated for mid-2026 delivery.

Two additional aircraft are under development: VoloUrban, designed for intra-city missions and expected in 2028, and VoloRegion, a four-passenger aircraft capable of longer regional routes, targeted for 2030.

Since the acquisition, Volocopter has streamlined its operations, retained key engineering talent, and restructured its business to focus on getting certified aircraft into commercial service as quickly as possible. The move signals a renewed phase of growth and stability for one of Europe’s leading advanced air mobility innovators.
