İGA Istanbul Airport Becomes Sister Airport with Chicago O’Hare

Rapidly advancing to become a global connectivity hub, İGA Istanbul

Rapidly advancing to become a global connectivity hub, İGA Istanbul Airport has signed a “Sister Airport” agreement with Chicago O’Hare International Airport, one of the busiest transfer centers in the United States. Through this strategic partnership, the two airports will collaborate on joint projects across various areas, including operational efficiency, customer service, sustainability, and logistics integration, supporting their mutual growth objectives.

The sisterhood agreement between İGA Istanbul Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport aims not only to facilitate information sharing at the airport management level but also to increase passenger and cargo traffic between the two hubs. This cooperation, which will particularly strengthen Istanbul’s position in the North American market, stands out as a significant development in the global aviation industry.

For Chicago, this marks its tenth sister airport partnership, while it is the first such collaboration for İGA Istanbul Airport in the Americas. Additionally, it becomes Istanbul Airport’s seventh international sister airport protocol.
