The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority has announced that restrictions on Indian civilian and military aircraft using Pakistan’s airspace have been extended for another month. The airspace ban will now remain in effect until July 23, 2025.
Under the newly issued Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), all civilian and military aircraft that are registered in, owned, operated, or leased by India are temporarily suspended from entering Pakistan’s airspace. The restriction applies to the entire Pakistani airspace, including the Karachi and Lahore Flight Information Regions (FIRs).
The initial restriction began in April 2025
Pakistan first implemented this restriction on April 24, 2025, and since then, the ban has been extended through successive NOTAMs. The latest notification officially confirms that the measure will stay in place until at least July 23.
Tensions impact regional air traffic
Experts emphasize that this restriction not only affects India and Pakistan but also disrupts air traffic across South Asia. Flights between the Middle East and India are reportedly experiencing longer routes and increased fuel costs due to the ongoing ban.
