Andres Van Swalm, CEO and Co-Founder of Unifly, has been appointed President of the Alliance for New Mobility Europe (AME), effective July 1. With over a decade of experience in air traffic and drone integration, Van Swalm will lead AME’s efforts to advance safe and scalable drone operations across Europe.
He succeeds Jan-Eric Putze (Droniq), who becomes Vice President. Anita Schneider has been named Secretary General, following the departure of founding SG Christoph Raab. AME also announced Jürgen Verstaen’s departure from the executive board.
Van Swalm’s priorities include strengthening EASA and national regulators, updating regulations for automation and multi-drone operations, scaling SESAR-funded projects like BURDI and U-ELCOME, and enhancing civil–military coordination. He also emphasized the need for greater harmonization, infrastructure investment, and EU-level funding to maintain Europe’s leadership in drone innovation.
“This is not about long-term ambitions, but urgent action to secure Europe’s drone future,” Van Swalm said during his address at the European Parliament’s Space, Security & Defence forum.
