Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with U.S. President Donald Trump on June 24 during the NATO Summit held in The Hague, Netherlands.
Speaking at a press conference on the second day of the summit, June 25, President Erdoğan said:
“We discussed the F-35 issue. We have made a payment of $1.3 to $1.4 billion for the F-35s, and I saw that President Trump has a good-faith approach regarding our procurement of the F-35s.”
Erdoğan added that the S-400 air defense systems were not on the agenda during the meeting, stating that “that matter is over.”
He continued:
“Our responsible teams are continuing work on the maintenance and repair of F-16s and the procurement of F-35s. We are also in talks with the UK and Germany regarding the Eurofighter jets. Both countries have responded positively to our good intentions.”
