Can you introduce yourself?
I’m Natali Damar, born in Istanbul. Growing up in a dynamic city and within a family with Eastern roots gave me a perspective that balances adaptability to the modern world with respect for cultural values. I have been working at Singapore Airlines for nearly 13 years. Today, I serve as an Executive in the Europe Digital Marketing Department, focusing on building stronger connections with passengers in the digital space and converting engagement into sales. What excites me most is creating inspiring experiences that merge dynamism, technology, people, and travel.

Can you tell us about your background?
I was born in Istanbul in 1990. The city’s cosmopolitan environment exposed me to diverse cultures from an early age. My family has Eastern roots dating back to the 1800s, which instilled a sense of pride in being part of a longstanding lineage. During my childhood, I experienced both urban life and our cultural traditions, a balance that has given me flexibility, empathy, and a multicultural perspective in my professional life.

When did you start in aviation?
I started my career immediately after university at one of the world’s leading airlines. I began in finance, then moved through marketing, PR, and e-commerce, eventually specializing in digital marketing as technology became central. My fascination with airplanes and the dynamism of the apron has always inspired me. Looking back, the journey of challenges, high pace, and invaluable experiences has brought me to where I am today. This path has given me pride in what I, as a woman, can achieve. I have also benefited from the guidance of many inspiring colleagues who contributed to my growth. For over 13 years, I have worked with the same passion in aviation, striving to advance it even further each day.

Which companies have you worked for?
I have been fortunate to start my career at Singapore Airlines, one of the world’s most prestigious brands. Over the years, I gained experience in various departments. I also briefly worked at a large French media agency, which taught me how to deliver outstanding media plans within a brand’s budget. Experiencing both the brand and agency sides gave me a multidimensional perspective on marketing, a truly unique and eye-opening experience.

When did you first fly on a plane?
I first flew at around 9-10 years old, on a trip to Hatay. Hatay is one of Turkey’s most special cities, rich in history and culture. That first flight, combined with the city’s uniqueness, left an unforgettable impression, planting the seeds of my passion and dreams in aviation.

Do you have a memorable aviation experience?
I will never forget January 6. Our flight had to be diverted for an emergency landing. My colleagues and I coordinated to ensure passenger safety and comfort. Being the closest to Atatürk Airport, I was suddenly instructed, “Take your passport and head to the relevant country.” Passengers were provided with funds to cover entry visas. My general manager’s voice, “Natali, don’t move or fall asleep,” still rings in my ears. When the plane landed, hearing my name continuously announced across the terminal was thrilling. This experience, while small in appearance, carried great responsibility and taught me the importance of aviation dynamics and teamwork.

What do you hope to see in the future of aviation?
I hope for more sustainable, accessible, and personalized travel experiences through technology. Environmentally conscious fuels, carbon-reducing innovations, and green aviation applications will play critical roles. I also believe digitalization should enhance value for passengers. Artificial intelligence, data analytics, and personalized services will allow passengers to experience a journey from start to finish, not just a flight. Additionally, shorter travel times through technological and scientific advances will transform lives. For me, the future of aviation is not just about transportation—it is about a sustainable, inspiring, and time-efficient experience.

Do you have a leadership moment that represents you best?
Leadership often emerges in unexpected moments. For me, quick decision-making in challenging situations, staying calm, and guiding those around me have shown that leadership is more about character than titles. Being recognized with awards like the CEO Marketing Warrior Award and the Regional Vice President Europe Service Excellence Award validates not only achievements but also courage, determination, and the ability to take action. I draw inspiration from many people around me, not a single figure, and my leadership is reflected in my strong character, responsibilities, and the bold journey I continue to pursue in every aspect of life.
