What’s changing?
Starting 3 November 2025, Ryanair will no longer accept printed paper boarding passes. All passengers must use digital boarding passes via Ryanair’s mobile app instead
Why the shift?
The move supports Ryanair’s goal to eliminate airport check-in counters, significantly reduce paper waste (over 300 tonnes annually), and remove most airport check-in fees (currently about €55)
Who’s it affecting?
Approximately 80% of Ryanair’s 200 million annual passengers already use mobile boarding passes. From November 2025 onward, all travelers will be required to use the mobile version unless exempted due to local regulations (e.g., airports in Morocco, Türkiye, excluding Dalaman, and Tirana in Albania)
Impact for travelers
The policy aims to streamline travel and enhance app-based features such as real-time disruption alerts and alternative flight options. Ryanair has confirmed that passengers with dead device batteries will still be assisted at the gate to avoid missed departures.
