Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF)-owned carrier Riyadh Air has announced that it will launch its first flights from Riyadh to London on October 26.
In a company statement, Riyadh Air said the daily flights to London Heathrow Airport will be operated using Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with the first aircraft named “Cemile.” The airline added that this marks part of an integrated operational phase designed to ensure the highest level of operational readiness ahead of its planned expansion to new destinations in winter 2025 and summer 2026.
Speaking at a press conference in Riyadh, Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas said the launch of the London route represents more than just the opening of a new air corridor.
“It is a manifestation of Vision 2030, which aims to connect Saudi Arabia to the world with a world-class travel experience,” Douglas stated.
He added, “We are steadily progressing toward operational excellence, and as we take delivery of our new aircraft, we will soon announce additional destinations.”
According to the airline, the first flight (RX401) will depart from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh at 03:15 AM, arriving in London at 09:30 AM local time. The return flight (RX402) will depart London at 07:30 AM, landing back in Riyadh at 07:15 PM.
