Archer Aviation has made two strategic acquisitions to reinforce its defense capabilities and speed up the development of next-generation military eVTOL aircraft.
-
The company acquired Overair’s patent portfolio and brought on board essential engineers from the spin-off of Karem Aircraft, known for its advanced tiltrotor technology.
-
Archer also purchased a roughly 60,000 ft² composites manufacturing facility in Southern California from Mission Critical Composites, a specialist in defense-grade composites.
These moves complement the December 2024 partnership with Anduril to co-develop hybrid, autonomous VTOL aircraft and follow a $1.3 billion capital raise for defense and commercial innovation. They also align with fresh momentum in autonomous military systems, especially after the Pentagon’s $13.4 billion budget proposal for such technologies.
Archer CEO Adam Goldstein underscored that leadership in advanced aviation, both civilian and defense, is a national priority, and these acquisitions underscore Archer’s commitment to meeting those needs
