American Airlines has reached a major fleet milestone, taking delivery of its 1,000th aircraft. The airline received its 1,000th mainline aircraft with the arrival of a Boeing 787-9, which landed in Dallas-Fort Worth on August 29, 2025.
The new aircraft is equipped with the airline’s latest premium cabin product, the Flagship Suite.
Since April, American has taken delivery of eight 787-9s and has a total of 30 on order.
The next-generation aircraft are being used on routes such as Chicago-London Heathrow, Chicago-Los Angeles, and Philadelphia-London Heathrow.
Starting at the end of the year, Flagship Suite service will be expanded to long-haul destinations from Dallas, including Auckland, Brisbane, Buenos Aires, and Zurich, in addition to its London flights.
