Ali İsmet Öztürk to Perform Flight Show with His Grandson

Professional aerobatic pilot Ali İsmet Öztürk, 60, is preparing for a very special performance at this year’s Sivrihisar Air Show,  together with his five-year-old grandson, Pars Şener.

The event, one of the highlights of Türkiye’s civil aviation calendar, will be held on 20–21 September at the Sivrihisar Aviation Center, Necati Artan Facilities, marking its 10th anniversary this year.

Last year, Öztürk and Pars made their first joint appearance at the same event. This year, they continue preparations for their display in a two-seat Husky A1-B aircraft, which has been specially decorated with cheetah-like patterns on the tail and a new logo under the name “Pars & Grandpa Air Show.”

Their upcoming routine will feature several crowd-pleasing elements: a smoke system installed for the first time on this aircraft, a limbo flight passing under a ribbon that gets lower each time until the propeller cuts it, and a sweet ending, with Pars handing out candy to children and spectators.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Öztürk said last year’s positive feedback inspired them to continue. Pars is very curious and eager. As a retired pilot, I’m happy to contribute to Sivrihisar Air Shows with him. Each year we try to bring something new,” he noted.

Öztürk emphasized that in aviation, flying must always be a personal choice: “No one can tell another person to fly. It’s the same for Pars. His parents and grandparents are all pilots, but whether he continues with aviation or chooses another path is entirely his decision.”

Reflecting on his career, Öztürk added, “I had the honor of representing Türkiye in 22 countries. Yet I always felt a unique joy when performing in my own country. Now, sharing that stage with my grandson is truly the peak of both grandfatherhood and retirement. This is not an aggressive aerobatic routine; it’s calmer, aimed at young audiences, and highlights the beauty of flight.”

Sitting in the rear seat, Pars Şener said he is excited about the show and that preparations with his grandfather are going well.
