Skyports Infrastructure has struck a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RAKTA (Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority) and RAKTDA (Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority) to build and operate the first electric air taxi ecosystem in the Emirate.
Under this strategic agreement, the partners will co-design, develop, and manage a network of vertiports that connect key destinations like Al Marjan Island, Al Hamra, and Jebel Jais. Commercial operations are targeted to begin by 2027.
By integrating the vertiport infrastructure with Ras Al Khaimah’s existing transport system, the project promises zero-emission transit to major attractions. What currently takes about 70 minutes by car (e.g., from Al Marjan to Jebel Jais) is projected to fall below 20 minutes via air taxi.
This initiative is a critical component of Ras Al Khaimah’s ambition to attract 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030, while emphasizing environmental sustainability and modern mobility.
Duncan Walker, CEO & Founder of Skyports, remarked:
“We are eager to join forces with the leading transport and tourism organisations in Ras Al Khaimah to launch electric air taxi services … This collaboration underscores our commitment to enabling zero-emission aviation across the UAE.”
With this partnership, the UAE’s advanced air mobility ambitions expand beyond Dubai and Abu Dhabi, bringing sustainable and fast aerial transit to the northern Emirates.
