AJet is Tracing the Footsteps of the Ottoman Empire!

The aviation sector in Europe experienced near-chaos last year, delays, cancellations, and passengers stranded in airports.

In contrast, Turkish Airlines (THY), the only long-haul carrier in Türkiye, was largely unaffected. Thanks to its well-established brand and wide-scale operations, THY weathered the storm. For years, the airline hasn’t placed much focus on domestic routes, and in fact, hasn’t been profitable on them for a long time.

However, narrow-body carriers became the main target of criticism during this period. Pegasus Airlines, which flies narrow-body aircraft, and AJet, launched last year at the wrong time and with poor planning, took a heavy hit. AJet should have been established during the winter to properly prepare for the high-traffic season, not around April 1st when air traffic peaks.

As a result of this poorly timed launch and operational hiccups, the airline initially struggled. But eventually, it recovered and is now climbing toward the top. The entire operations team is now in high spirits. In fact, back then, even political opposition used AJet as a talking point.

Last year, the European Football Championship and the Paris Olympics further congested European airspace. So many private jets arrived for these events, imagine every famous footballer flying in their family, that the air traffic became gridlocked. Flying was practically impossible during that period. And that’s exactly when AJet was launched, so the airline became synonymous with delays through no fault of its own.

Some opposition politicians, lacking any real understanding of aviation, unfairly targeted the airline, attempting to undermine its reputation, even though AJet had been founded with the mission of becoming a “Peace Ambassador” for our country.

To me, AJet truly is a “Peace Ambassador.” Why? Just look at the cities it flies to: Damascus, Ganja, Nakhchivan, Pristina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tuzla, Skopje… Each destination has its own powerful story. If you look at history, the airline’s route map tells you everything.

Once peace is restored between Ukraine and Russia, AJet is also expected to launch flights to Ukrainian cities like Kyiv and Odesa. Undoubtedly, this airline is flying toward peace, quite literally.
