Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) has introduced a heartwarming initiative to improve passenger experience: the Pet Squad (French: Escouade Câline), a volunteer-based program that brings trained therapy dogs into the terminal to interact with travelers.
Operated with the recognition of Humane Society International/Canada, the Pet Squad aims to reduce anxiety and offer emotional support to passengers, particularly those who may feel stressed, nervous, or overwhelmed in the airport environment.
The therapy dogs, accompanied by their volunteer handlers, make regular rounds in the passenger areas, offering comfort, photo opportunities, and brief but meaningful moments of connection.
In addition to its emotional support role, the program has a light-hearted collectible component: each dog on the squad has their own trading card, which passengers can request during their visit. These cards have become a popular and memorable keepsake for travelers.

Airport officials say the initiative has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback and has become a defining feature of the YUL passenger experience.
