Gökçe Kübra Yıldırım, a pilot at Emirates Airlines in Dubai, has become the first Turkish woman to serve as a captain on the Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger aircraft.

After successfully completing her captain training, Yıldırım donned her “four stripes” epaulettes, marking her official promotion. The first to congratulate her were members of the Emirates A380 team. She also posed for a commemorative photo with fellow Turkish pilots at the airline.

A 12-Year Journey in Aviation

Gökçe Kübra Yıldırım began her aviation career 12 years ago at Turkish Airlines. After moving to Dubai, she applied to Emirates and was accepted to fly the Airbus A380 as a first officer.

Once she had accumulated the required flight hours and experience, Yıldırım was selected for captain training by Emirates. After completing the training and passing the final check flights, she officially earned the title of Captain Pilot.

A Milestone Shared with Gratitude

Sharing the news on her social media, Yıldırım wrote: “This journey that began around 12 years ago has brought me to this point today—captaincy. Every step, every challenge, every success has taught me so much. This profession is not just a job; it’s a part of my life. I want to thank everyone who supported me and stood by me throughout this path.”
