The Operations Center (APOC) at Rome Fiumicino Airport opened its doors to Aviationext and the Airport AAM Masterclass attendees, offering a rare look into the inner workings of one of Europe’s busiest airports. From the moment the aircraft taxied in, the APOC team managed each operation with notable precision. Gate assignments, baggage handling, and other key processes ran smoothly, demonstrating a high level of operational coordination.
Following the APOC visit, attendees toured the UV-0 Test Vertiport, an UrbanV facility at Fiumicino. The focus shifted from ground operations to advanced air mobility in action. UrbanV conducted a live demonstration of a medium-weight hexacopter carrying a payload, highlighting the practical application of drone operations in airport environments. The tour also offered insight into the growing collaboration between UrbanV and Korea Airports Corporation, signaling the expansion of international air taxi and drone networks.
The day provided more than technical demonstrations. For attendees, it was a firsthand look at how operational efficiency, technological innovation, and cross-border partnerships are shaping the future of aviation, bringing advanced air mobility closer to reality.
