China Eastern Airlines has officially launched flights from Xi’an, China, to Istanbul Airport. A special ceremony was held at Istanbul Airport to mark the inaugural flight.
As one of China’s leading airlines, China Eastern will operate the Xi’an-Istanbul route three times per week using Airbus A330 aircraft, strengthening the connection between the two countries.
During the inaugural event at Istanbul Airport, İGA Aviation Development Director Fırat Ocak stated:
“We are delighted to welcome the first scheduled flight from Xi’an, one of the key cities on the historic Silk Road, to Istanbul. These flights by China Eastern Airlines, operated three times a week, will contribute significantly to Istanbul Airport’s vision as a global transfer hub.”
The addition of this new route not only reinforces China Eastern’s presence at a major aviation hub connecting Europe, Asia, and Africa but also comes at a time when bilateral relations between China and Türkiye are steadily improving.
